Johnson to reject Liverpool for Portsmouth stay

Glen Johnson is in advanced talks over a new Portsmouth contract.

The Sunday Mirror says Johnson's current deal doesn't expire until 2011 but talks are at an advanced stage to extend it to 2013.

A host of rival club's including Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City have been monitoring his situation at Fratton Park.

But contrary to speculation, the England defender has no desire to leave Pompey and has encouraged his advisors to conclude talks at the earliest opportunity.
