Johnson and Aurelio to miss Liverpool v Lyon clash

Liverpool duo Glen Johnson and Fabio Aurelio will both miss tonight’s Champions League clash with Lyon.

Both players have failed to overcome calf problems as Reds manager Rafael Benitez attempts to turn his side’s indifferent form around with an injury-hit squad.

The fact that Johnson is missing and fellow right-back Philipp Deggen is no registered for European action means that Benitez will have to move around his starting line-up to find a suitable player for that position.

On the other hand, summer midfielder signing Alberto Aquilani has made the trip to France after missing the weekend’s defeat at Fulham as has Daniel Agger and substitute specialist David Ngog.

Liverpool need to win or at least get a draw away from home and hope Fiorentina are held by Debrecen to still be a chance to qualify for the next phase of the tournament.
