Johnson agrees new deal and stays at Portsmouth

Glen Johnson has signed a new four-and-a-half year deal to remain at Portsmouth. Pompey boss Tony Adams is delighted to see the former 24 year old commit his future to Pompey.

"It's great news that Glen's decided to sign a new contract," said Adams. "I'm delighted to have him here - I want him here for a long time.

"This is a good place for him. He's got back in the England squad since he came here.

"Glen's applied himself really well. He's always desperate to play and gets frustrated when he can't. He's been very good for this club and this club's been very good for him."

Pompey's executive chairman Peter Storrie said: "Glen was only too happy to sign a new contract and it speaks volumes about his loyalty for this club and his desire to succeed with Pompey.

"In my opinion we have the best right-back in the country and this sends out a strong message that top-quality players want to play for this club."
