John Terry marks 15 years as Chelsea captain

Chelsea captain John Terry yesterday marked 15 years as club captain yesterday.

Terry, who has been at Chelsea since the age of 14 and is the club's most successful captain, took to social media on Monday to mark the day 15 years on since he wore the armband for the first time in a 1-0 league defeat at home to Charlton Athletic.

The centre-back was made captain for the game on 5 December 2001 in the absence of full-time skipper Marcel Desailly and, after the departure of the Frenchman in 2004, Terry was made permanent captain of the west London side.

Despite his long association with Chelsea, Terry's future beyond this season at his boyhood club remains unclear, with the centre-back's current deal set to expire next summer.
