Aston Villa defender Joe Bennett says their FA Cup win over Ipswich Town has boosted morale ahead of their Carling Cup semi with Bradford City.

After securing a passage into the fourth round of the FA Cup, the claret and blues must quickly turn their attention to the Bantams clash in the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final.

"All we were aiming for was to get through to the next round but we played some nice football and that is a bonus as well," Bennett told Villa's website.

"If we are playing good football now then hopefully it carries on into the next game and hopefully we can play well against Bradford.

"We had a lot of players for the ball which is nice when you've got the ball.

"I think we played well and deserved the win.

"Other than the goal in the first half we dominated possession and we just wanted to carry that on into the second half.

"Every game home or away we want to win it whether it is in the Premier League or a cup game."
