Joe Allen admits former Liverpool teammate Glen Johnson did have an influence on his Stoke City move.
The pair had played together at Anfield and will reunite today as Allen flies out to Orlando to join a 10-day training camp.
"I did speak to Johno (Johnson) briefly and he had nothing but good things to say about the club," said Allen.
"I have known him for a long time now so to hear such positive comments from him was good to hear and it definitely played a part.
"The general impression I got from him was that the club is very stable, and they want to push onwards to try to achieve even greater things.
"Hopefully with the additions that the club are looking to make this summer then we can go on and do that."
