Job only half done as Scotland prepare for Ireland - West Brom skipper Fletcher

Scotland skipper Darren Fletcher has issued a warning as his side prepare for the all-important clash against the Republic of Ireland in Euro2016 qualifying.

Scotland currently sit third in Group D, two points ahead of Ireland, and a second group win against the Irish would enhance Gordon Strachan's sides chances of landing an automatic berth for France or at least secure a play-off spot.

West Bromwich Albion captain Fletcher told The Express: "I think we're all of the opinion that the hard work starts here.

"We've given ourselves a chance with results in the section so far, but we know that it's a job half done.

"We do have momentum and a group of lads who are desperate to bring success to the country.

"But there's no use talking about it - we have to keep showing it on the park. I think we've all been looking forward to the Ireland game now for some time.

"It's never easy playing at this time of year with the players all finishing at different dates and having to tailor their training and rest with this game in mind.

"But no one is complaining - we want to be in this position going to Ireland knowing that a positive result will keep us moving towards that goal of qualification."

Scotland will play Ireland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on June 13.
