Liverpool face missing out on Shakhtar Donetsk star Alex Teixeira.

The Daily Mail says Teixeira will become the latest player to move to the mega rich Chinese Super League in the next 24 hours in the biggest transfer deal of the year so far worth around £35million.

The stunning move which will see the Brazilian forward join from Shakhtar Donetsk to link up with Ramires at Jiangsu Suning comes a huge blow to Liverpool, who refused to bid higher than £30m.

They were planning to come back in the summer with the English transfer window having closed on Monday night but Jiangsu have beat them to it. The Chinese window does not close until February 26.

The fee will eclipse the £32m Guanghzuo Evergrande paid Atletico Madrid for Jackson Martinez this week and the £25m paid to Chelsea for Teixeira's fellow Brazilian Ramires.
