Derby County boss Paul Jewell was delighted with new signings Alan Stubbs and Roy Carroll after their draw with Birmingham City.

He said: "I thought Stubbsy and (goalkeeper) Roy Carroll were terrific. They only came into the club on Friday. You've got the quality and the experience they both bring.

"Stubbsy is a winner. Some of the best signings I have made as a manager - people like Stuart McCall, Matt Jackson, Arjan De Zeeuw - all had that unbelievable enthusiasm and desire and will to win and to be the best they possibly can.

"That is why their careers go on almost forever and Stubbsy didn't put a foot wrong all day against Birmingham. He won most of his headers and gave us that calmness and assurance at the back."
