Jewell calls his Ipswich players a pub team

Ipswich slumped to a sixth consecutive loss with a 4-0 Championship defeat at Burnley leading boss Paul Jewell to slam his players. "I feel physically sick," said Jewell. "There's a lot of people with big reputations in that changing room. People keep on telling us what an experienced team and what good players we've got. They can all talk the talk but at the minute they're not doing it."

Jewell added: "It's unbelievable from a team that not so long ago was looking like a decent team. Now it looks as if we can't win a 50-50 tackle, or even 60-40 in our favour.

"There's a goal where the kid runs from midfield right through the heart of our defence, there's a goal from a set play - anyone watching that would think it's like a pub team really."

He added: "It's unacceptable. I'm embarrassed here coming to see you guys. I'm embarrassed walking past those supporters of ours who've travelled all that way to watch absolute garbage.

"Ultimately it's my responsibility and some of the stuff that is going on in there is not what we've been preaching. In fact, none of it is."
