Jewell accepts Derby the worst

Paul Jewell does not expect Derby to avoid the tag of worst team in Premier League history.

The Rams boss saw his side taken to pieces by high-flying Arsenal on Monday night with the Gunners easing to a 6-2 victory at Pride Park.

Derby must now take maximum points from their final two games to surpass Sunderland's current record low tally of 15 points.

However, having won just once all season, Jewell is far from confident that he will be able to guide to the club to back-to-back successes.

"It would be nice but you wouldn't hold out too much hope, would you?" he remarked.

"The most important game for me now is the first game of next season.

"We would love to get past 15 points but that isn't going to give us anything but a little bit of credibility.

"It's tough for me to sit here after every home game and say the same things week in, week out but it's there for everyone to see that we're clearly not good enough for this level."
