Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond became enraged after his side drew 2-2 with Perth yesterday. Van Egmond stormed onto the pitch at the conclusion of the match and had a feisty encounter with Glory striker Adrian Trinidad after he was involved in a collision with Jade North that handed the Glory a penalty in injury time.
Although van Egmond had settled by the time the press conference came around, his frustration was evident in his words.
"I do not know what more Jado can do," van Egmond said. "Trinidad ran straight at Jado [North] looking for the collision and falls.
"I am not saying he is a diver, but he may have ran into Jado and has fallen over. I do not know how much he has encouraged the collision.
"In that respect, it is something that is getting a lot of press in regards to simulation.
"In other countries, it is looked upon favourably. You have actually conned the defender and the referee.
"Here in our country, our culture, we do not look at it that way."
"Last week we had a case where Liam Reddy came out of his box and basically smashed Joel Griffiths," the coach said. "Joel got to the ball first, he has gone down and nothing has happened. "It was a similar situation today but because it was in the box it gets ruled a bit differently. "I will have to brush up on the rules."
