Cameron Jerome has hailed Birmingham City's capture of defenders Scott Dann (Coventry) and Roger Johnson (Cardiff).

Johnson is discussing personal terms after a £5 million deal was agreed and there should be no hitches to his addition.

"They were two of the best centre-halves in the league last year without doubt and I think the club has bought well," the striker told the Birmingham Mail.

"We had two good games against them and their sides, home and away, and they showed themselves to be good players.

"Both are very, very strong characters and they were leaders for their teams, and you can't have enough leaders out there on the park. That's got to be a plus for us.

"It was clear that the gaffer was going to change it about a bit in defence and these two are players I think will do well for us, next season and into the future."
