Jerome full of praise for Stoke spirit

Stoke City striker Cameron Jerome has heaped praise on his teammates for showing tremendous spirit to qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League.

The Potters secured their spot in the next round with last night's 1-1 Group E draw with Dynamo Kiev thanks to Kenwyne Jones' late equaliser and Jerome was impressed by the way the team went about their task at hand after falling behind in the 27th minute.

"It's a phenomenal spirit we have here, and in the end I think that is what has got us this result," he told the club's official website.

"Things weren't going too well for us in the first half, and being 1-0 down we could have crumbled and started to feel sorry for ourselves - but we didn't do that and we kept believing.

"We knew that we had to keep pushing on at them and hopefully when that chance came along we would have to take it, and that is what Kenwyne did for us.

"It was a tough game, but we knew it would be. They are a top European side and it was a huge game for them, like it was for us. We did the job and now we want to go out in two weeks' time and win the group."
