Jeonbuk Motors star Lee in doubt for ACL knockout

Jeonbuk Motors star striker Lee Dong-Gook is in doubt for Wednesday's Asian Champions League knockout clash with Australian club Adelaide United.

The 31-year old Korea Republic international injured his ankle in yesterday's 3-2 loss to Chunnam Dragons in the K-League and is now no certainty to make the long trip to South Australia.

"He twisted his right ankle slightly in the first half," said Jeonbuk coach Choi Kang-hee.

"We intended to take him off at half-time but he said he was fine. We will check in the morning to see what the situation is. A problem with a thigh muscle is also a worry.

"Lee has been in good condition all season until the Ulsan game (on April 24) and since then he hasn't look as good. We don't know for sure what will happen yet but the player hasn't said that he is in a lot of pain."

Lee has been a star performer in the K-League, winning the Golden Boot with 21 goals in 2009, and so far this term has netted on five occasions in eight appearances domestically.
