After dominating the attack in the first half hour, Adelaide were made to pay by the Korean champions who, in the 38th minute, executed the perfect counter-attack from an Adelaide attacking move thanks to a thumping clearance from the keeper, with Eninho getting on the end of a well-worked move to slam the ball into the net.

Adelaide captain Travis Dodd missed a golden opportunity in the 44th minute when a probing cross from Cassio eluded Flores, with Dodd surprising everyone by not getting a clean strike on goal.

Adelaide kept pressing in the second half, dominating possession but unable to get find a clear scoring opportunity.

As time looked to be running out for the home side, a goal from Robert Cornthwaite levelled proceedings in the 78th minute, meeting a Cassio corner to glance home a classic header.

The visitors hit back soon after with Brazilian Eninho crashing home from the edge of the 18 yard box in the 87th minute before Adelaide's Serg Van Dyk sent the home fans into rapture with a last minute equaliser to send the match into extra time.

The home side almost took the lead for the first time when Cassio hit the crossbar with a well struck freekick in the opening minutes of extra time.

As both sides tired, the action flowed from end to end as the threat of a penalty shootout became more and more likely.

However with only four minutes remaining, the tiring Adelaide defence failed to clear the ball and with a cross from the left dangerman Lee Donggook was loose on the right and headed home from close range giving Galekovic no chance.

Adelaide's Cassio was sent off in the dying moments, collecting his second yellow card before the referee called time.
