Jenas: Inter defeat gave Tottenham players belief

Jermaine Jenas revealed last month's Champions League defeat at Inter Milan was the catalyst for Tottenham player's believing anything was possible this season. The seeds of the incredible comeback from 2-0 down at the Arsenal were actually sown in defeat at the San Siro exactly a month earlier, according to midfielder Jenas.

That game saw Tottenham go 4-0 and a man down before half-time only for Gareth Bale to score a sensational second-half hat-trick and leave European champions Inter clinging on.

"It was a bit of a catalyst," midfielder Jenas explained.

"We didn't perform in the first half, went down to 10 men and people wrote us off completely.

"But what we did in the second half was we gave ourselves a mental victory with the way we performed.

"We had Inter on the ropes with 10 men at the San Siro. Not many teams will go and do that.

"And in doing that, we looked at ourselves and said, 'We can do anything if we're all at it'.

"We've got to continue to use those things as tools and use them in a positive way."
