Jenas: England's future is at Tottenham

Jermaine Jenas says Tottenham boasts England's future defensive pairing - Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King.

Woodgate, a £7million signing from Middlesbrough last month, has just six England caps. King has 19 so far and both players have suffered major injury issues.

King, 27, admits his knee injury may stop him playing regularly until next season.

Yet midfielder Jenas, who also hopes to be part of Fabio Capello's plans, said: "I cannot speak highly enough of how good our two centre-backs are. These two can easily be England regulars.

"They are both world-class players. Woody has come to a new club but he has fitted in so quickly.

"It has been a long road for Ledders in terms of his injury problem.

"He was very emotional after the game but we all were. He has not played as many games as he would like but it's great to have him back.

"The thing about Spurs is that quite a few of us are English lads.

"Apart from myself, there's Tom Huddlestone, Robbo in goal plus Aaron Lennon, Michael Dawson - and the two other centre-backs.

"We spoke of England's disappointment at exiting the Euros and English football was questioned. But look at our team - there are good players here who are English."
