Jelavic hoping to use Hull move as World Cup catapult

Nikica Jelavic is determined to force his way into Croatia's World Cup squad by scoring goals for Hull City.

The 28-year old completed a reported £6.5milin move from Everton to the KC Stadium yesterday and is now looking to recover his goalscoring touch ahead of this summer's FIFA tournament in Brazil.

"I'm under pressure straight away. But I'm a striker, I need goals and I will score goals, I know that," he said.

"I just need some games. It's a decent club and I think I can help the team. I'm delighted to sign here.

"My move from Everton to here was because of the national team as well. This summer is the World Cup and I have to play if I want to be involved with the team.

"I'll try to score as many goals as I can and show to the national team manager (Niko Kovac) that he can count on me."
