Hearts boss Jim Jeffries blasted the Hibernian fans who showered Kevin Kyle and Rudi Skacel with missiles as the Jambos soared to a sensational derby-day win, reports the Scottish Sun. David Templeton's stunning solo goal and Stephen Elliott's poached effort were enough to give Hearts the points.

But the game erupted late on as both Kyle and Skacel were pelted by coins and lighters from the home support.

There were also flares thrown on to the pitch from the Hearts end after Templeton's opener.

Ref Willie Collum was clearly seen mouthing the words 'Get more help' into his mouthpiece as the trouble threatened to spill over.

And the SPL are likely to take action once they receive match delegate George Douglas's report today.

Hearts boss Jefferies said: "The derby is a great occasion, it's a passionate game and full of commitment.

"It shouldn't be spoiled by idiots throwing things.

"You expect banter between both sets of fans, that's part and parcel of the package.

"It was a bit frantic. The two sets of fans were having a go at each other."

At one stage Marius Zaliukas went to kick one of the flares with Jefferies screaming at him not to go near it.

He said: "We were tipped off by the police before the game that there might be smoke canisters and we were told not to kick them because they might explode.

"So when I saw Marius going towards it I was screaming at him not to do that.

"He kicked it once but got away with it."
