Mile Jedinak scored his first Premier League for Crystal Palace as they defeated West Ham United 1-0 in the Premier League on the weekend.
The Australian midfielder converted from the penalty spot in the 59th minute at Upton Park to give the Eagles their fifth straight win, putting them within a point of 10th place on England's top flight table.
The goal was the first by an Australian in the Premier League since Brett Holman scored for Aston Villa in December 2012 and came on an emotional day for both Australian football and West Ham in the wake of Dylan Tombides' death.
The promising Aussie and Hammers striker passed away on Friday after a three-year battle with testicular cancer.
After scoring the goal, Jedinak's celebrations were muted as he paid tribute to Tombides who first joined West Ham's youth academy in 2010.
Tombides had a bright future ahead of him as he was highly-rated at the east London club but the cancer became too aggressive and he was unable to win the battle in what is a major loss for Australian football, for West Ham and of course, the young gun's loved ones.
