Mile Jedinak has hot competition to win a regular spot in the Socceroos team but he is not looking too far ahead. The Genclerbirligi midfielder is enjoying his new experience in Turkey after cutting his teeth in the A-League with Central Coast Mariners and now has his sights set on the national team.
"Look, the national team is always at the back of your mind when you make these sorts of decisions," he said.
"I always knew that moving to Turkey would give me a better chance of playing (with the Socceroos) than by staying in Australia.
"I've got a lot of competition because there are great players in front of me.
"Carl (Valeri) is the same age as me. I played with him in the U20s and he's come a long way since then.
"But football is a funny game and you never know what will happen in the future.
"Hopefully I'll get an opportunity and be able to cement that chance. But I'm not going to look ahead of myself too much."
