Jay Spearing is desperate to establish himself at Liverpool.
The exciting midfield talent told LFC Magazine: "We all want to be the next local lad to come through, but we want to do it for ourselves.
"A lot of people are asking if we're the next Gerrard or Carragher but I always think to myself that we're not going to be that. We're going to come in and establish ourselves as who we are.
"If I manage to achieve half the things in my career that Gerrard has done I'll be very, very happy. But it's up to me to try and establish myself as Jay Spearing.
"I've got to show the fans what I'm capable of. Rather than the next Gerrard or Carragher, I just want to be the next local lad to make it at Liverpool.
"But first I've got to try and make a bit more of an impact at first team level. I've got to concern myself with that before I start dreaming."
