Javier Clemente named new coach of Sporting Gijon

Javier Clemente has been named new coach of Sporting Gijon.

Clemente takes over from Inaki Tejada, who was placed in temporary charge of the relegation-threatened Primera Division side following the departure of Manuel Preciado.

A brief statement on the Sporting website on Monday night read: "Javier Clemente is the new coach of Sporting until June 30. He will be presented on Tuesday."
