Jason Wilcox in line for top Man City academy job

Jason Wilcox is in line for a permanent promotion at Manchester City.

The Manchester Evening News says Wilcox will be made academy director at Manchester City if he makes a good job of the role on a caretaker basis.

The former Blackburn player has been handed the promotion on a temporary basis after impressing Blues bosses with his handling of his job as head of academy coaching.

The position became vacant last week when Mark Allen left the club after seven years to become football director at Rangers.

Wilcox was a popular under-18s coach at City before being moved up to oversee the whole coaching programme in the youth ranks, when Pep Guardiola decided to make Rodolfo Borrell part of his first team backroom staff.
