Japan coach Takeshi Okada will rest regular starters and bring in youth for his side's first Asian Cup qualifier against Yemen tonight. Yasuhito Endo, Keiji Tamada and Yuji Nakazawa will all be rested for the opening Group A clash and Okada is keen to test some younger players on the international circuit.
Oita Trinita's Mu Kanazaki and Kashima Antlers forward Shinzo Koroki were included in a nine-day training camp and could possibly be selected by Okada who is confident of getting a result but also wary of his opponents.
"We have had a good preparation camp without having any major injuries to our players," said Okada.
"We are moulding into a good unit now. We've been building up this team over the last year.
"Yemen should be in good shape having played in the Gulf Cup recently. They have good individual skills, are strong physically and good on the counter. It won't be an easy game," he added.
"But we'd like to produce a good result with these players. To win this game, I will find the best way to use the best available players.
"If they can make the most of their opportunity given, that will be a big plus for our squad."
