Japan want Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as their next manager.
The Daily Star says Wenger, who is revered there, will be asked to quit the Emirates next summer.
And, if the Gunners don't end their five-year trophy drought next season, Wenger might well decide the time has come to go after 15 years.
Sources say the Japanese will move for Wenger in the New Year.
Coach Takeshi Okada will quit after the World Cup and a caretaker boss will be appointed up to the Asian Games in January.
Then the Japanese will focus their efforts on reuniting with the manager they respect more than any other.
