Matt Jansen has welcomed the appointment of Sam Allardyce as new Blackburn Rovers manager.

Jansen, back at Rovers chasing a new playing contract, worked with Allardyce at Bolton Wanderers and said: "He has definitely been out of the game for too long. You look at what he achieved at Bolton and it is clear he belongs as a Premier League manager.

"I am surprised no club has snapped him up since he left Newcastle but I suppose we don't know what happened.

"I really enjoyed my time under him when I was at Bolton.

"He built a very strong team around him there and I am sure he will produce the same here."
