Portsmouth goalkeeper coach David Coles has highlighted David James' top class distribution as a new attacking weapon this season.
A 60-yard throw from the keeper to John Utaka in the recent win at Fulham nearly led to another Pompey goal and left he crowd gasping.
Coles told the Portsmouth News: "Jamo does that every day in training, his arm is fantastic, it really is. He should have been a javelin thrower without a doubt. It is incredible how far he can launch the ball.
"It wasn't a one-off either, he does that on a regular basis on the training ground and it can be so crucial to your team-mates. I thought his distribution against Fulham was superb. The last three or four games it's been very, very good.
"But that throw was something everybody saw, plenty of people were talking about it afterwards. He's had that ability ever since my days at Southampton as coach when we used to play against him.
"We always tried to stop him dribbling and throwing the ball out and got people around him to stop him catching and throwing it early. He's so quick, you need people to stop him launching that counter attack because it can really punish you.
"I'm giving away all his secrets now, but it really can help get goals and he's one of the best at that."
