James to leave new Portsmouth contract unsigned

Portsmouth have tabled a new contract offer to goalkeeper David James.

The Daily Mail says James has been offered a new contract at Fratton Park but that is likely to remain unsigned until the January transfer window at least, by which time the 39-year-old keeper will have a clearer idea which direction Portsmouth are heading in.

The England goalkeeper saw a move to Tottenham yesterday fall through.
