James Chester: Manchester United ideal environment for young players

The environment at Manchester United is ideal for a young player's education, says defender James Chester.

Chester has just signed on-loan with Carlisle United.

He told the News & Star: "The likes of Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes always talk to you. And Rio Ferdinand, being a centre-half, always finds time to speak to me about my game. When he gives me advice I'd be stupid not to listen.

"From the age of 16 and onwards, when you are with the youth team you are in the same building as the first team, so you see Sir Alex nearly every day. He knows your name and he speaks to you.

"If he watches a game and you've done something wrong, he'll let you know. But at the same time, if you have played well he will tell you."
