Jakarta Police to deploy more than 2,000 personnel for LA Galaxy match

Jakarta Police will deploy 2,819 police personnel for Wednesday's friendly between LA Galaxy and the Indonesian national team.

Following the recent death of two people at the South East Asian games, Jakarta Police operational bureau chief Sr. Comr. Agung Budi Maryoto said it was prudent to have so many police on board.

"We are sending a huge number of personnel to prevent any unnecessary unrest, learning from what had happened at the SEA Games final recently, which claimed two lives," he said.

The Galaxy meet Indonesia at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium with football star David Beckham in tow and Maryoto denied claims that the English veteran had asked for extra security.

"The organizing committee already has its own security guards. We are only assisting," he said.
