Everton captain Phil Jagielka has revealed that the club will be looking to end their long trophy drought by targeting a win in the Capital One Cup next term.
It has been a very difficult campaign so far for Everton but their recent revival means that the club will be heading into next season with a renewed sense of optimism.
Claiming a Champions League spot will surely be on the agenda for the Toffees and now defender Jagielka has revealed that his side will also be looking to end their two decade wait for silverware next season by aiming to win the League Cup.
"The Europa League was looking quite good for that (ending the trophy drought), until the away leg in Kiev," Jagielka said.
"We are progressing and we'd love to go and win some silverware but it's never that easy. There is always a bit of luck involved in the draws and finding form at the right time.
"Next season, I'm sure the manager will be looking at it (the League Cup) straight away and he'll definitely be picking a strong team."
