Jagielka on England hopes: All I can do is play well for Everton

Phil Jagielka says he knows only by playing well for Everton will he stand a chance of going to the Euros with England.

The defender was part of the England squad which qualified for next year's tournament last Friday in Montenegro.

"Playing well for Everton is all I can do to hope to be in the squad come the end of the season," Jagielka told evertontv in the aftermath of qualification.

"Time is running out for me to be involved in a major tournament and I would love to be picked for the squad.

"But there is an awfully long way to go until the end of the season. I have been in most of the squads through the qualifying campaign but as we all know - injury or loss of form can cost you your place. Hopefully I can be alright on both of those counts and get the chance to go."
