Everton defender Phil Jagielka believes they can set up their season with a positive Christmas programme.

Before last night's 0-0 draw with Chelsea, Jagielka told evertonTV: "Christmas is always hectic - I've had many as a player now - and we know it can kick-start our season. We've made a decent enough start so far but if we can have a good Christmas run then before we know it we could have picked up another nine points.

"Hopefully the tables can be turned. I think the bookies are going to take money because their away form is brilliant and our home form has not been the best. We're probably not expected to win but we'll go out there and try our best."
