Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is ready to cough up for Colombian striker Jackson Martinez.

The People says Latics manager Martinez has been checking on the £3million-rated ace who plays for Independiente Medellin in his homeland and is being touted to come to Europe.

The 23-year-old powerhouse would love to join Hugo Rodallega at the DW Stadium if a deal can be sorted out - as well as a work permit.

Martinez wants a new forward because Jason Scotland has failed to deliver goals since he signed - and Marlon King was sacked by the club after being sent to prison in October for assaulting a woman.
