Jackson cut loose by Derby

Richard Jackson has left Derby County ahead of their return to the Premier League.

The defender has had his Rams contract terminated by mutual consent after he failed to secure a regular role in the Derby first-team according to Sky Sports.

Jackson made only seven appearances for Derby last season as manager Billy Davies guided his side to a 1-0 Championship play-off final victory over West Brom.

The 27-year-old will now seek a new club ahead of the beginning of the season.

Jackson began his career at Scarborough before making a £30,000 move to Pride Park in 1999.
