Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback is stalling on opening new contract talks.
Colback insists the situation won't affect his on-field commitment.
"I find it hard to believe anyone would go into a game and not give it their all, to be honest," the midfielder told the Sunderland Echo.
"It's certainly not in my nature, and it goes without say that giving my absolute best is something I'll continue to be doing.
"Andrea Dossena coming in now to compete for the left-back position is something I'm very much aware of and I know that if I don't keep performing to the best of my ability he'll be straight in there.
"But being on the bench when I'm 23 is not something I want to happen."
