Jaager joins New York Red Bulls in training camp

Estonian defender Enar Jaager is currently on trial with New York Red Bulls.

After Red Bulls sporting director brought Joel Lindpere to the club, he is now casting his eye over another Estonian international who will hopefully fill the slot at right back.

Red Bulls coach Hans Backe said it was a mere coincidence that Jaager was also Estonian after already adding Lindpere to the books.

"That's strange in a way you pick two Estonian players,'' Backe admitted. "But it could be Luke Sassano at right back; otherwise we'd have to look at Jeremy Hall. It's not fair to him; he's more of an attacking midfield player. Erik (Soler, sporting director) found both Joel Lindpere and him, just coincidence both are on the team.

"If Jaager is good enough at right fullback, then we'll have that covered. Then we can move on to central midfield,'' he added.

Jaager has close to 70 caps for Estonia and has played most of his career in his homeland with Tervis Panu, FC Flora and FC Valga before he moved to Torpedo Moscow in Russia, Aalesunds in Norway and Ascoli in Italy where he played last year.
