Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is among the candidates to succeed Italy coach Marcello Lippi after the World Cup.
Cesare Prandelli, of Fiorentina, was their primary target, but he is believed to favour remaining in club football and "90 per cent" certain to take over from caretaker manager Alberto Zaccheroni at Juventus.
That has forced the FIGC to examine other candidates and, though Mancini last week announced his intention to buy a family home in Manchester and sources close to the Italian insist he intends to see out his contract at Eastlands, it is believed Giancarlo Abete, the Italian FA's president, is confident that Mancini could be tempted to return home, says the Sunday Telegraph.
