Cagliari goalkeeper Federico Marchetti is ready to start Italy's clash with New Zealand.

Juventus keeper Gigi Buffon has suffered a herniated disc and it is not clear if he will be able to play again during the 2010 World Cup.

"Without Gigi we'll all have to give a bit more," said Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.

"A world class goalkeeper like that does count, but Marchetti did well against Paraguay in the second half.

"He is great and Buffon has spoken to him so much over the last few days. Gigi is the right man to fire him up, as goalkeepers live in a slightly separate world to the rest of us."
