Italy coach Roberto Mancini admits there's frustration watching the World Cup as a spectator.

Italy failed to qualify for this year's tournament.

“It hurts us," Mancini admitted on a visit to Matera for the 120th anniversary of the FIGC.

“I don't think anyone here has ever seen Italy out of the World Cup. So it's not great.

“At the same time, seeing the first games I think Italy could easily compete there, even though we're not in a brilliant period."
