Italy coach Cesare Prandelli is happy to have recalled Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli to his squad.

One player who has returned to the set-up is Balotelli after he missed the first two qualifiers in order to undergo eye surgery.

"It upset me that he had the operation while there were international games, but I still decided to call him up as he has talent," the former Fiorentina boss said. "We now need to understand if he wants to become a champion.

"He must awaken the pride in himself and demonstrate attachment to the jersey for his sake and that of the national side."
