Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has explained his call-up for AS Roma striker Fabio Borini.

The Italian Under-21 international was promoted to the full squad on Sunday and could make his debut against the USA tonight.

"I was left very impressed by his determination and generosity on the field of play," the former Fiorentina boss told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

"His performances have been quite consistent too."
