Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has defended Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho over his card-gate scandal.
UEFA suspended Mourinho and fined his Real Madrid players after it was found he 'ordered' them to receive second yellow cards for time-wasting, therefore clearing the disciplinary record for the knockout phase.
"Everyone does it and there's nothing strange about it," insisted Prandelli of that incident against Ajax.
"I challenge anyone to say that haven't done something similar. Really, this is nothing any other tactician hasn't done.
"I got along well with Mourinho, as we understood each other right away, finding common interests. Above all, I found in him an innovative figure and Italy needed someone like him. He was one of the first to explain why he made certain decisions."
