Italy coach Roberto Mancini admits they were fortunate to defeat Poland 1-0.

Fiorentina fullback Cristiano Biraghi's last-gasp winner kept Italy's Nations League hopes alive and relegated Poland to League B.

“We dominated, we had to score earlier and it would've been unfair if the game ended 0-0," Mancini told Rai Sport after the match.

“All the lads tried to do their best. We know it takes time, but this victory is an excellent one. We can improve a lot but patience is needed.

“Football is like this: you suddenly score a goal at the death, one which you deserved, but the game could've also finished 0-0, like it was for some time.

“There wasn't much to change: the lads are playing very well. I only put players on to freshen things up.

“I put on Lasagna because he's athletic like Immobile but better with his head and we needed a few more inches.

“A new cycle has already begun, there aren't such things as wizards. Tomorrow we'll go with pride to see the President of the Republic."
