Italy coach Marcello Lippi has told critics now is no time to experiment with younger players.
Lippi said: "I have the hope, I underline hope, to try and win the World Cup again. To do that I need to focus on the players with the most international experience and therefore the 2006 squad.
"Naturally, I do this without being blinded to the obvious. There is always space for those who can guarantee added value, but the word 'renewal' should be used cautiously.
"If we want to renew the squad, then we have to think in terms of a five or six-year plan. I, on the other hand, would like to attempt another victory immediately.
"We should also be wary of comparisons with other sides, as the much-vaunted Spain have never won the World Cup and only got the European Championship after a lifetime of failure."
