Italy manager Cesare Prandelli says he has no problem with Mario Balotelli's seemingly angry reaction after scoring last night.
The Manchester City striker came off the bench to net in the 90th minute of the Azzurri's 2-0 win over Republic of Ireland at Euro2012 and immediately motioned towards the Italy bench, perhaps in protest at being benched after starting the two previous games.
But Prandelli says he isn't sure if Balotelli, who was muted by teammate Leonardo Bonucci, was directing any anger toward him and his coaching staff.
"I honestly don't know if he was angry with me. I'll ask him.
"But I liked how the teammates protected and defended him. Bonucci was good and there was confirmation that we are a good group."
He added: "If Mario wants to become a champion he must understand that nobody is out to harm him. He must learn how to accept criticism and a place on the bench.""This is his behaviour," said Prandelli. "We know him. But basically Balotelli is a golden boy.
