Roma manager Rudi Garcia has flagged the prospect of a renaissance of Italian football, ahead of his side's International Champions Cup fixtures with Real Madrid and Manchester City in Melbourne.
Garcia said that results in Europe and transfer market activity indicated Italian football was on the rise again.
"Of course European results are a positive sign of an Italian comeback," Garcia said when asked of Juventus' road to the Champions League final and Fiorentina's performance in the Europa League last season.
"These are signs that are mirrored by the activity in the transfer market, Italian clubs are signing top players once again, and the market is always a good indicator of how healthy a league is."
Garcia would not elaborate on his club's transfer activity, but said he was working with staff back in Italy to sign new players.
"We are in touch with our sports director Walter Sabatini, who is working hard on (transfers)," he added.
"We have a very clear idea of the positions we need new players, but we want to be sure of their quality.
"The transfer window is open until August 31st, so that is plenty of time for us to do our job."
