Joleon Lescott admits it is a shame that Rio Ferdinand was not selected for England's Euro2012 squad.
The Manchester United centre-half was left out of Roy Hodgson's first Three Lions selection for this summer's tournament in Poland and Ukraine and his Manchester City counterpart has hinted he is disappointed at the decision.
"He is probably one of the players I looked at most growing up. It's a shame he is not in the squad but it was the manager's decision.
"I don't think it was an easy choice to make picking his squad.""He is a great player and has been a great one for England," said Lescott.
